The Traveston Crossing Dam site is the last undeveloped high-yield dam site available in South East Queensland. It is a critical component of the Queensland Government’s strategy to secure a safe and reliable water supply for South East Queensland. Traveston Crossing Dam will supply up to 70,000 megalitres per year, which is up to 27% of the additional water supply required by 2015.
QWI is currently progressing the feasability and approvals for Stage 1 of Traveston Crossing Dam. Construction of Stage 2 of the Traveston Crossing Dam, if required by demand, is not anticipated until 2035.
Traveston Crossing Dam is located on the Mary River at approximately Adopted Middle Thread Distance (AMTD) 207.6 kilometres, approximately 27 kilometres upstream of Gympie.
