Approval Process

The Wyaralong Dam is subject to a rigorous assessment process before it is granted final approval. As part of this process, a detailed environmental assessment will be carried out including an environmental impact statement and an environmental management plan.

QWI will consult extensively with the public throughout the approvals process for the proposed Wyaralong Dam. During the Environmental Impact Statement process, QWI has held information days and ensured that information was available in a number of locations around the project areas during the public notice periods.

Where applicable, QWI will communicate regularly with affected landholders, interest groups, elected representatives and local communities throughout the planning and development of the project through a range of measures. QWI will also work closely with the relevant Traditional Owner groups in fulfilling the requirements for both Native Title and Cultural Heritage.

As part of the approvals process, access to privately owned or leased land will be required on occasions. QWI has developed a protocol to be followed for obtaining access to land. Download the Land Access Protocol.
